Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory
The great mystery is Christ actually in us. He dwells in us through the Holy Spirit.
The purpose is that we might glorify God and be glorified for His service.
For many this is a strange thing. However we know that our spirit bears witness with His Spirit that we are the children of God. When we are saved or born again the Holy Spirit comes into us and dwells in us.
Then it becomes true what Jesus said, "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." John 14:20
